Duty to God Summer Camp Programs

Local Councils are encouraged to implement Duty to God Scout Summer Camp Programs. The rationale for this program comes from the youth portion of the BSA Summer Camp Outcome Study, which revealed that 69% of Scouts think about their relationship with God while at camp. Duty to God has always been an integral part of the Scouting program, and local councils are encouraged to support this spiritual element of Scouting by implementing a Duty to God Summer Camp Program. Please note that such a program must be implemented by the local council. Check with your council to find out if this program will be available in your summer camps. Each council/camp will design its own patch to be sold in the Trading Post.

  • The program was a huge success!!!! We had 300 + youth complete the program and plan to do it again next year!!! Thanks! Greg W. Leitch, Field Director, Great Smoky Mountain Council, BSA.  Click on the picture to see full image of sample patch.

  • Liz Shelby, Capitol Area Council Religious Relationships Committee, Austin, TX developed “merit badge cards” with the Duty to God requirements on them. Scouts could check off the requirements as they completed them. Liz Shelby also shared a devotion booklet developed by the Capitol Area Council Religious Relationships Committee.  Click on the picture to see full image of the sample merit badge card.   Click on the links below for sample devotions created by Capitol Area Council Religious Relationships Committee.
