Comment:
"My name is Trent Ekberg and I helped organize
these programs at my church. Both of the
Pastors involved really enjoyed the programs and
so did the parents and children. I did the God
and Family program with my son last year and we
both enjoyed it. That is when Pastor Nycklemoe
and I discussed trying it with a larger
group." |

During Scouting Sunday, this
group of scouts was recognized for completing
the God in Church Program. |
|
The church has sponsored Troop 1,
of the Pioneer Trails District, LaSalle Council
for 102 years. However we have no record of a
group finishing a PRAY program during that
tenure. Through the encouragement of our new
pastor, Mark Dicken (shown on the left) a
passionate advocate of scouting, we are in the
process of making the PRAY awards an annual
event. These recipients will be honored with a
plaque adjacent to that of our Eagle Scouts. In
this morning of firsts, we were also pleased to
recognize L. Craig Fulmer (far right) with the
Cross and Flame award in thanks for his years of
services to the youth in our community. |

God and Me
Counselor/Parent:
"We were truly blessed to see the program at
work in the boys’ lives. We were incredibly
fortunate to be able to lead the program with
our den. My husband and I are also Sunday
school teachers at our church and our pastor
liked the idea of us teaching the program. We
are always working on public speaking in our den
meetings. One of our scouts didn’t want to
stand in front of the group and share the animal
he had created. At that time we had eight boys
going through the program. We had just learned
how we are all created in God’s image and all
God’s creations are good. What happened next
was one of the most heartwarming things I have
ever witnessed. Another scout leaned over and
looked at the first scout’s drawing and
complimented him. One by one every single boy
in the program encouraged and complimented the
first scout on what he created. My husband and
I did nothing to start that process. What we
saw were 7 little boys who had HEARD the message
of that lesson. It was absolutely incredible.
I was disappointed to see the program end, but
look forward to the next one." |

P.R.A.Y.’s immediate database
goes back twenty years, and Zumbro Lutheran
Church in Rochester, Minnesota appears EVERY
year in this database, but Zumbro actually
started offering the P.R.A.Y. award in 1988.
Impressive! They have faithfully been offering
P.R.A.Y. classes ever since. Zumbro has had
recipients in all levels of the P.R.A.Y. program
(including the prestigious Four Star Award!) and
has served youth in their Sunday school program
as well as in the following youth agencies:
American Heritage Girls, Boy Scouts of America,
Girl Scouts of the U.S.A., and 4-H.

Dalton S.
God and Me
Cornerstone United Methodist Church
Naples, FL
My son, Dalton, and I completed
the "God and Me" program this year through our
Church, Cornerstone United Methodist Church in
Naples, Florida. He is the first and only scout
to receive his Religious Emblem of Faith Award
in Pack 210 in the last three years. I was his
Adult Mentor in the program and I must say this
brought us closer together as Mother and Son,
Den Leader to her scout son, but most
importantly, in our own relationship with God.
It was enjoyable and he really blossomed in
learning how to speak to God through prayer.
|
 |
|
He really liked creating the
games, making our prayer rock, and learning
about the P.A.T.H. to prayer {which he can
explain what that means any day because he truly
enjoyed what he was learning.} This wasn't work
for him, he'll tell you, but fun! Thanks for a
great program and we will spread the WORD! Grae
Sidener, Bear Den Leader in Pack 210, Naples, FL
and one proud mom! |

Quinn P.
God and Life
Columbia, MO
First Baptist Church
“My favorite part was learning
more about the Bible and helping others. For one
of my God and Life projects, I planned,
designed, drew, cut, sanded, and painted a 6
foot tall plywood lighthouse for Vacation Bible
School. I am very pleased with how it turned
out. I am absolutely grateful for the P.R.A.Y.
program that recognizes Scouts for their
religious faith.”

Ben: “My favorite project was
making the stained glass window.”

Travis A.
God and Me
Fort Worth, TX
Chapel Creek Fellowship
|
Travis’s favorite part of God and
Me was “looking up things from the Bible.” He
wrote that he wanted to grow up to be a
“scientist and a doctor.”
|
|
From Lesson One, this is what
Travis drew to remember that God created all
things. |
From Lesson Two,
here is one of Travis’s favorite gifts! |
