P.R.A.Y. ANNOUNCES NEW GOD AND FAMILY CURRICULUM
NEWS RELEASE - P.R.A.Y. ANNOUNCES NEW GOD AND FAMILY
CURRICULUM
(St. Louis, Mo.) – Programs of Religious Activities with youth
(P.R.A.Y.) has rewritten the God and Family religious award
program for Protestant youth in grades four and five.
The new God and Family curriculum is designed to help youth
understand the importance of family and God’s role in a healthy
family. It provides an opportunity for young people and their
families to explore their faith together. Children will compare
families and “pizza.” The six steps for making pizza will be
compared to God’s plan for strengthening families. The pizza
theme is meant to give students a concrete, “hands-on” model on
which to build their understanding of God’s love for their
families. They will make a pizza as they study how families can
grow together in God’s love.
The complete program still consists of the Student Workbook (for
the child), the Counselor Manual (for the pastor), and the Adult
Mentor Workbook (for parents/guardians). Several new features
are available in the Counselor Manual: lesson plans, opening
activities, sample responses for discussion questions, and
suggestions for setting up group classes. The Adult Mentor
Workbook helps parents/guardians to reflect on their role as
Christian mentors for their children and provides the
opportunity for families to grow together in faith.
These new resources are available October 2001. Contact P.R.A.Y.
or your local council service center.
The God and Family Program is the second program in the God and
Country religious growth series for Protestant young people. The
new God and Family curriculum is the first in a series of
revisions scheduled by P.R.A.Y.
