P.R.A.Y. Update
January 11, 2013

Announce your class and proudly display your award recipients with 2 brand new P.R.A.Y. posters!

The P.R.A.Y. Program poster displays the four medals for Protestant and Independent Christian Churches under the banner “Building Faith in Youth.” Use this attractive poster in your church or meeting place to invite others to join your program. Let everybody who comes in your building know that you’re using the P.R.A.Y. program to help children grow in faith. Space is provided at the bottom to add a local contact and/or to include the dates and times for your classes.

The P.R.A.Y. Recipient Poster can be displayed year-round to proudly announce the young people who earned a P.R.A.Y. award. Record their names and the completion date.  Use this poster to challenge ALL Protestant youth to earn their P.R.A.Y. award and to remind award recipients to continue their journey and enroll in the next level. Have a strong mentor program? Include the names of your mentors or get a separate poster just for them. Have a long-standing ministry with the P.R.A.Y. Program? Order a poster for each year of your ministry and display the names “through the years.” Each poster can list up to 30 names per program level.

Both posters are 13.25” x 19.25” and come folded down to 6.625” x 9.625”.

2012 usage data for the P.R.A.Y. Program (for Protestant and Independent Christian Churches) has been posted online. P.R.A.Y. reports a 4% decline in overall usage. Only two awards showed increases: God and Life (for high school), and the Four Star recognition, a prestigious award presented to 240 young people who earned all four awards in the P.R.A.Y. series (click here to see their names). The chart below shows the usage data broken down by agency. Congratulations to the American Heritage Girls which is the only agency to show an increase!

The P.R.A.Y. usage data is also presented by denomination. Congratulations to the United Methodist Church (the top user of the P.R.A.Y. program with 6642 recipients!) and to the Presbyterian Church of America (which increased over 150 recipients for a 66% increase!).

Looking for ideas on how to teach the God and Me and God and Family programs? Deb Hazlewood, author of the P.R.A.Y. curriculum, did a page-by-page run-through of the programs, and the recorded webinars are posted on the P.R.A.Y. website. Whether you’re brand new or a seasoned veteran of the P.R.A.Y. Program, you can glean ideas and gain confidence to offer the program through your own congregation. View the recordings yourself or better yet, gather your teaching team and view it together. Anybody may view the recordings (it only requires your name and email).

If you’re the kind of person who likes to take notes during a presentation, you’re in luck. The actual PowerPoint slides are available for download from the P.R.A.Y. Learning Center. Print a paper copy to make it easier to take notes while watching the presentation. All the links are available in the Learning Center or click on a specific link below:
